Frontliners

 Frontliner - A person that operates in an advanced and exposed (usually dangerous) position.


Ever since this pandemic started, this word has been in use a lot. The doctors, nurses, Med techs, policemen, ambulance drivers - all these are our frontliners in this war that has been raging for over a year now. These frontliners have sacrificed their comfort, their luxuries, their family time to work for the betterment of the conditions in these difficult times. The doctors and nurses working in the hospitals are being ostracized from the society. They are not allowed to enter residential complexes because the people there fear that these doctors might bring in the infection. Many of them have not been paid salaries and their dues. And still they never complain about their harsh life! These people work day and night, sometimes without proper protective gear just to try and save the lives of the patients around them. And what do they get in return? No recognition from governments, no financial support from the society! Many of them have even died while working in the hospitals! The role of a soldier in defending his country has now been taken over by the healthcare workers. They strap up their PPE, wield their stethoscope and injections and stay awake day and night to protect their countrymen. What they need right now is our support and our help. If we have even an ounce of respect for what they do, we must do our bit in reducing their burden! Simple and basic steps from our side go a long way in reducing the spread of infection. Simple acts like wearing a mask and a face shield, proper sanitization with alcohol, social distancing - These are not some enormous or difficult things to implement. But these are the things that go a long way in protecting us and the people around us and indirectly protecting the healthcare workers and other frontliners.

Today, on the occasion of World Health Day, let us pay our respects to these bravehearts, the warriors of this battle - Our frontliners 🙏

The Land of India has been the birthplace of many great people. Such a person born in this country was Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
